During
the stay

Training, activity
and rest have
their place

Dogs cannot train continuously throughout the day. They also need time to eat, rest, play and process what they are learning.

Your dog follows an organized routine that balances:

  • Daily training
  • Supervised play when appropriate
  • Mental enrichment
  • Individual attention
  • Meals
  • Rest
  • Potty breaks
  • Settling practice
  • Appropriate socialization
  • Exposure to everyday situations

We pay attention to the dog’s age, energy, confidence and ability to focus instead of expecting every dog to follow exactly the same routine.

Owner
transfer
lessons

The training has to
continue at home

Board & Train does not remove the owner from the training process.

Your dog may learn new skills during the stay, but those skills still need to make sense when they return home. Owner transfer lessons help you understand what your dog learned and how to continue using the same cues and routines.

Transfer lessons may cover:

  • The cues your dog learned
  • How and when to reward
  • Daily routines
  • Leash handling
  • Household expectations
  • Managing distractions
  • Continuing practice
  • Maintaining consistency

Your participation after the program plays an important role in maintaining progress.

Evaluation
and
enrollment

We need to understand
the dog before
accepting enrollment

Board & Train is not automatically the right program for every dog.

Before recommending a 6-week or 8-week stay, we consider:

  • Age
  • Vaccination status
  • Health
  • Previous training
  • Current behavior
  • Comfort around unfamiliar people
  • Ability to stay safely at the facility
  • Training goals
  • Any history of aggression or biting

Enrollment is based on evaluation, suitability, reservation and available space.

Program prices are fixed as listed. The evaluation is used to determine whether Board & Train is an appropriate option, not to change the advertised program price.

09 /
Behavior
concerns

Board & Train is not
a shortcut for every
behavior problem

A longer stay can provide structure and repetition, but serious behavior concerns need to be assessed carefully.

Dogs showing severe fear, resource guarding, growling, snapping, biting or significant aggression may require Behavior & Aggression Support rather than a general Board & Train program.

Contact Buckaroos before enrolling if there is any history of:

  • Biting
  • Snapping
  • Resource guarding
  • Severe separation distress
  • Aggression toward people
  • Aggression toward dogs
  • Extreme fear
  • Serious handling sensitivity

We will recommend the safest and most appropriate place to begin.
