A friendly personality is a good beginning, but therapy environments can be unpredictable. A dog may encounter wheelchairs, walkers, sudden sounds, unfamiliar handling and people who move or communicate differently.
Our Therapy Dog Training program helps dogs remain comfortable and responsive in these situations. Handlers also learn how to guide their dogs, recognize when they need space and support calm, appropriate interactions.
The goal is not to make every dog behave exactly the same. It is to help each dog and handler become a reliable team.

We highly recommend completing Puppy Training and Basic Manners before enrolling in Therapy Dog Training.
Previous training can help your dog develop the focus, confidence, socialization and everyday manners needed for therapy work. Dogs do not need to be perfect, but they should be able to learn in a small group without becoming overwhelmed.
If your dog struggles with serious fear, reactivity, growling, snapping or aggression, contact us before enrolling. A private evaluation or Behavior & Aggression Support may be a safer place to begin.
